THE END OF MYSELF

from Take Me To Church

THUNDER speaks, contention with the rote.
Abasement traded for the dream
the state of being we forgot
thralled in Love's issuing:
O threshold for our undoing,
gateway to God.

Voices of distant suns
hailed on spectroscope
hymn on the hands of the oak;
the martyrdom of electricity
in anthracite unforeseen,
the friendly inversion
of the cold diamond.

Redemption by the shattering of vases,
equivocation of sepulchre and womb:
presides the Lepidopterist Divine
to inverse metempsychosis.
Praise for Comedic adoration,
The End of Myself.
